Head Housekeeper

About the role

HC-One is seeking a Head Housekeeper to lead the housekeeping team at its Northview Lodge care home in Sunderland. This full‑time, 40‑hour role focuses on creating a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents living with dementia, nursing, residential, and specialist care needs.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, organise and manage the daily cleaning rota and schedules.
• Lead by example, supporting and motivating the housekeeping team.
• Oversee laundry operations for personal and shared items.
• Order and control stock of cleaning products and supplies.
• Implement and update infection‑control and COSHH procedures.
• Maintain accurate records, complete cleaning checks and ensure health‑and‑safety compliance.
• Respond to urgent cleaning tasks and assist the team when required.

Required profile

• Proven experience in housekeeping within a care or residential setting.
• Demonstrated team‑leadership and organisational abilities.
• Strong awareness of health‑and‑safety, infection control and safeguarding responsibilities.
• Friendly, positive and kind attitude in all interactions.

Required skills

• Knowledge of infection‑control procedures.
• Understanding of COSHH and health‑and‑safety regulations.
• Ability to recognise and report safeguarding concerns.
