Head of Academy Education

About the role

The Head of Academy Education will lead the Academy’s education programme, ensuring that every player receives high‑quality academic, personal development and pastoral support. This role aligns with EPPP requirements, LFE guidance, safeguarding standards and the Academy Performance Plan.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the Academy education strategy in line with EPPP guidelines and club values.
• Lead delivery of BTEC, SEP and hybrid education provision, managing staff and meeting departmental KPIs.
• Maintain accurate education records, monitor academic progress and use data to drive player interventions.
• Coordinate education timetables that complement training schedules and support phase‑appropriate reviews.
• Liaise with schools, colleges, LFE, EFL/Premier League representatives and external agencies to support player development.
• Support player transitions, exit pathways and after‑care planning with relevant club departments.
• Provide pastoral and wellbeing support, escalating safeguarding concerns as required.
• Lead preparation for PGAAC audits and manage internal and external education inspections.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading education programmes within a sports academy or similar environment.
• Strong knowledge of EPPP guidelines, LFE standards and safeguarding requirements.
• Ability to manage education staff, set objectives and monitor performance against KPIs.
• Excellent data‑driven decision‑making skills for tracking academic progress.
• Effective stakeholder management with schools, colleges and governing bodies.
• Experience planning player transitions, exit pathways and after‑care support.
