Head of Facilities Management & Compliance

About the role

We are seeking a strategic leader to head Facilities Management and Compliance for a diverse property portfolio in London. The role combines oversight of hard and soft FM services with responsibility for statutory compliance, asset management and budgetary control.

Key responsibilities

• Lead statutory building compliance covering fire safety, asbestos, water hygiene, lifts, electrical safety and related regulations.
• Provide strategic direction for hard FM and soft FM operations across corporate, education and community estates.
• Manage a hybrid delivery model, overseeing high‑value outsourced contracts and in‑house cleaning, security and catering services.
• Develop long‑term asset management, lifecycle replacement and capital maintenance strategies.
• Advise senior leaders, elected members and stakeholders on property compliance and operational resilience.
• Lead, develop and motivate a large, multidisciplinary workforce, fostering a culture of safety and high performance.
• Ensure effective financial management of an approximate £5 million operational budget, delivering value for money.

Required profile

• Degree in Facilities Management, Building Surveying or a related technical discipline.
• Professional membership of IWFM and IOSH (or equivalent).
• Significant experience leading statutory compliance across a complex property portfolio.
• Proven track record of managing large‑scale hard and soft FM services, both in‑house and outsourced.
• Experience with decarbonisation programmes and modern asset management approaches.
