Head of Finance – Consumer Goods Scale-up

About the role

Harper May Ltd is seeking a Head of Finance to lead financial strategy, planning and reporting as the business expands across new geographies and product lines. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will embed financial rigour at the core of decision‑making and partner with commercial teams to drive profitable growth.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and own the annual budget and rolling forecast, delivering accurate commercial insight.
• Build management reporting that isolates true profit by channel, product line and geography.
• Lead working capital, cash flow and treasury management across a complex supply chain.
• Partner with operations and procurement to benchmark costs and identify structural savings.
• Support strategic initiatives such as new market entry, product range expansion and supply‑chain optimisation.
• Establish financial controls and governance frameworks suitable for a scaling business.
• Recruit, develop and mentor a growing finance team.

Required profile

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification.
• 7‑10 years of senior finance experience, preferably in consumer goods, retail or logistics.
• Proven ability to build finance capability and lead teams in high‑volume, multi‑channel environments.
• Commercial mindset with experience influencing non‑finance leaders and presenting to the board.
• Comfort operating in a fast‑moving, ambiguous scaling operation.
