Head of Finance – Senior Leadership Role

About the role

Our client on the outskirts of Colchester is looking for a Head of Finance to join the senior team at an exciting time for the business. The role provides strategic and operational leadership of the finance function and sits on the Senior Leadership Team, working closely with the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver the financial strategy aligned with corporate objectives and long‑term plans.
• Provide strategic financial advice to the CEO, Managing Director, Board and senior leadership.
• Lead financial modelling, scenario planning, budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow projection.
• Monitor developments in the adult social care sector and assess financial impact of commissioning, funding and regulatory changes.
• Oversee annual budgeting, long‑term financial planning and fee‑uplift strategies for negotiations with local authorities and NHS commissioners.
• Produce accurate monthly management accounts, performance analysis and risk/opportunity identification.
• Prepare high‑quality financial reports, business cases and presentations for the Board.
• Lead statutory accounts preparation, external audit management and compliance with accounting standards.
• Manage tax, VAT, payroll and statutory reporting requirements.
• Lead financial appraisal, modelling and due diligence for acquisitions, mergers and new services, and support post‑acquisition integration.

Required profile

• Member of the Senior Leadership Team with ability to influence strategic decisions.
• Experience providing financial advice to CEOs, Boards and senior executives.
• Understanding of the adult social care sector and its funding mechanisms.
• Proven capability to manage complex budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting processes.

What we offer

• Competitive salary of £70,000‑£75,000 per year.
• Full‑time Monday‑Friday role, 9am‑5pm.
• Hybrid working (one day per week) after 3‑6 months.
