Head of IT

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Head of IT to lead the operational management, technical development and continuous improvement of our IT services. This senior, hands‑on role ensures that infrastructure, systems and support services are secure, resilient and aligned with business priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day operation of IT Services, delivering effective, customer‑focused support.
• Manage, coach and develop the IT Services team, handling workload planning and performance reviews.
• Provide senior technical guidance across networking, virtualisation, Wi‑Fi, servers, storage, Microsoft 365 and endpoint management.
• Oversee IT infrastructure, cyber‑security controls, service resilience, business continuity and disaster recovery.
• Maintain risk registers, audits, risk assessments and service reviews.
• Ensure documentation of procedures, operating processes and support arrangements.
• Supervise routine maintenance: backups, updates, patching, monitoring, access controls and user account management.
• Manage SQL Server environments, upgrades and backup strategies.
• Contribute technical expertise to wider projects, highlighting IT risks and dependencies.
• Translate technical issues into clear advice for senior leaders.
• Lead IT budget planning, lifecycle replacement, capital bids and supplier contract management.
• Develop a medium‑term technical roadmap covering infrastructure, security improvements and service development.

Required profile

• Proven senior IT leadership experience in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong technical expertise combined with team‑leadership and coaching abilities.
• Excellent communication skills for translating technical concepts to senior stakeholders.
• Ability to plan budgets, manage suppliers and drive strategic road‑maps.
