Head of Operational Technical Training

About the role

This senior position leads HM Land Registry’s nationally recognised Land Registration Academy, a multi‑award‑winning technical training function. Reporting to the Head of Service Delivery for Workforce Planning, you will shape the Academy’s strategic direction, modernise learning design and delivery, and ensure staff have the expertise to provide high‑quality land registration services.

Key responsibilities

• Set vision and strategy for operational technical training across the organisation.
• Partner with Organisation and Employee Development to align training with learning strategy, professional standards and data‑driven evaluation.
• Act as senior ambassador for the Academy, promoting its standards, outcomes and culture of continuous improvement.
• Lead a geographically dispersed team, using evidence and learning technology to drive improvement.
• Collaborate with senior leaders, operational colleagues and expert technicians to connect training to organisational priorities and future capability needs.

Required profile

• Proven leadership of a national technical training function with recognised awards.
• Experience working with senior leaders and cross‑functional partners.
• Ability to inspire, motivate and develop a dispersed workforce.
• Strong commitment to excellence, inclusivity and continuous improvement.
