About the role
The Healthcare Assistant (Band 3) will join Birmingham Hospice’s Hospice at Home team, providing compassionate palliative care to patients in their own homes across Erdington and surrounding sites. You will work closely with urgent‑response nurses and clinical nurse specialists to support patients and families during end‑of‑life journeys.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver personal care and support to patients with life‑limiting conditions in their homes.
- Collaborate with urgent‑response nurses and clinical nurse specialists to ensure coordinated care.
- Adapt care plans to the evolving physical, spiritual, psychological and social needs of patients and families.
- Maintain accurate records and use IT systems for documentation and communication.
Required profile
- Level 3 NVQ in health or social care, or willingness to work towards it.
- Previous experience in a health‑care or care‑related role.
- Competent in English and Maths to GCSE level or equivalent.
- Ability to work flexibly, use initiative and prioritise workload.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Required skills
- Proficiency with databases, email and Microsoft Word.
