Highways Maintenance Operative – Full‑time Permanent Role

About the role

Amey is seeking full‑time Highways Maintenance Operatives for its NMC NE Account in Peterhead. The role is permanent, 39 hours per week (Monday‑Friday 8:00‑16:30 with occasional night shifts), and supports Transport Scotland in maintaining the trunk road network.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out routine highway maintenance tasks such as carriageway and footway patching, kerbing, ironwork replacement and drainage upkeep.
• Operate and maintain vehicles, including HGVs and small plant machinery, ensuring all checks and routine servicing are completed.
• Participate in winter and summer standby duties, responding to emergency call‑outs and incident response.
• Maintain a strong safety focus for yourself and the team.
• Complete accurate records, paperwork and liaise with Amey staff, subcontractors, emergency services, police, clients and the public.

Required profile

• Experience in roads or street works.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Awareness of health and safety regulations and commitment to compliance.
• Self‑motivated and able to work collaboratively within a team.
• Winter maintenance experience is desirable; an HGV licence is preferred but not essential.
