About the role
The Security Operator role is a permanent, part‑time position within an NHS Scotland hospital, working 15.57 hours per week across two flexible days. You will help maintain a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors by applying established security policies and procedures.
Key responsibilities
- Monitor and control access to the hospital, ensuring all entrants are authorised.
- Search and escort staff, visitors and vehicles as required.
- Conduct daily perimeter fence checks, walking approximately one mile over uneven terrain.
- Stand for extended periods and respond professionally to disputes or confrontations.
- Operate security systems, maintain accurate records and collaborate with the security team.
- Follow published rosters (six weeks in advance) and provide relief cover up to three times per year.
Required profile
- Previous experience in a security or customer‑focused environment.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise workload and take initiative.
- Valid full UK driving licence.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook.
What we offer
- AfC Band 3 (pro rata) salary.
- High Secure Environmental Allowance of £1,818.72 per annum (pro rata).
