Housing First Officer – Support Rough Sleepers

About the role

The Housing First Officer will join East Suffolk Council's Housing Needs Team to provide flexible, person‑centred support to individuals who are rough sleepers or at risk of repeat homelessness. Working under the Housing First principles, you will help people secure and sustain their own homes while coordinating multi‑agency assistance.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver a tailored package of advice, assistance and ongoing support to rough sleepers and those at risk of homelessness.
• Facilitate placement of individuals into suitable accommodation and support them throughout their housing pathway.
• Lead a multi‑agency approach, collaborating with drug and alcohol services, mental health providers and other partners.
• Promote a customer‑centred approach, working with vulnerable clients, their advocates, families and support networks.
• Contribute to the council’s goal of preventing homelessness and reducing rough sleeping in East Suffolk.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a similar housing or care role.
• Relevant qualifications such as CIH Level 3 or equivalent.
• At least 3 GCSEs (C grade or above).
• Ability to work with complex needs and multi‑agency teams.
