Housing Officer – Estate & Tenancy Management

About the role

The Housing Officer will manage estates and tenancies for a diverse client base in Birmingham, including vulnerable individuals. Working closely with Lettings, Income and Community teams, the role focuses on sustaining tenancies, promoting responsible behaviour and ensuring safe, vibrant communities. The position is office‑based with regular visits to the local patch, Monday to Friday.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to a wide range of customer enquiries, providing clear advice and support.
• Manage low‑level anti‑social behaviour cases, applying interventions and escalating to court where required.
• Prepare high‑quality court packs and documentation for legal proceedings.
• Coordinate tenant onboarding with Lettings and Income teams to ensure smooth moves.
• Identify vulnerable tenants, refer them for support and sustain new tenancies.
• Conduct estate and community inspections, raising and following up corrective actions.
• Communicate estate services and charges clearly to residents.
• Support customers affected by welfare reform through digital advice and signposting.
• Promote resident engagement, support community groups and lead improvement initiatives.
• Complete annual tenancy audits, flagging fraud or breaches and taking action.
• Resolve estate issues such as fly‑tipping and abandoned vehicles promptly.

Required profile

• 2‑3 years of customer service experience within a housing association or similar environment.
• Minimum of 2 years as a Housing Officer with estate and tenancy management duties.
• Experience handling low‑level ASB cases and preparing court documentation.
• Good understanding of social housing services and tenancy enforcement processes.

• Salary range £31,418.09 – £37,384.00 per annum
• Car allowance of £168 per week
• Full‑time, Monday‑Friday office‑based role with occasional patch visits
