Housing Support Worker – Temporary Full‑Time (Oldham)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Housing Support Worker to join a homelessness charity in Oldham. This temporary full‑time position offers 37 hours per week, working Wednesday to Sunday, providing vital day‑to‑day support for people experiencing homelessness or housing need.

Key responsibilities

• Encourage and assist service users to develop independence and progress towards sustainable housing.
• Collaborate with the wider staff team and external project partners.
• Maintain building security, manage cash and equipment responsibly.
• Conduct regular key‑working sessions, record contacts and update support plans.
• Issue warnings and take action to safeguard health, safety and welfare in line with policy.
• Provide trauma‑informed, solution‑focused support that promotes resilience.
• Keep accurate case notes, financial and administrative records.

Required profile

• Experience supporting individuals facing homelessness, mental health challenges, substance misuse or offending behaviour.
• Ability to work flexibly across projects and manage a caseload independently.
• Experience of lone working in an accommodation‑based setting.
• Good understanding of safeguarding procedures.
• Eligibility for an Enhanced DBS on the update service.
