Housing Visiting Officer – Homelessness Prevention

About the role

We are seeking experienced Housing Visiting Officers to join a busy Homelessness Prevention and Temporary Accommodation service. You will work directly with vulnerable residents, carrying out property visits, providing tenancy support and helping to prevent homelessness.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct visits to residents in temporary accommodation and homelessness services.
• Provide advice on homelessness, housing options and tenancy sustainment.
• Carry out property inspections, tenancy audits and occupancy checks.
• Identify welfare concerns, offer appropriate advice and make referrals.
• Collaborate with Prevention and Accommodation teams to maintain placements.
• Maintain accurate case notes and records after each visit.
• Investigate tenancy‑related issues and propose practical solutions.
• Manage a caseload independently and work autonomously when required.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a Homelessness Prevention Service or Temporary Accommodation Service.
• Strong knowledge of homelessness legislation, housing options and tenancy sustainment.
• Ability to identify welfare issues and intervene appropriately.
• Excellent communication and customer‑service skills.
• Capability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
• Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (desirable).

Required skills

• Experience conducting property inspections and tenancy audits.
