HR Advisor

About the role

We are supporting a well‑established civil engineering contractor in Leeds who is looking for an experienced HR Advisor. The successful candidate will provide expert guidance, support the existing HR team and help drive HR best practice across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end recruitment processes, including sourcing, screening, onboarding, and supporting hiring managers via the ATS.
• Oversee the onboarding experience, conduct inductions and ensure new starters are effectively integrated.
• Administer off‑boarding, issue documentation, conduct exit interviews and update records.
• Assist in the development, implementation and communication of HR policies and procedures.
• Provide day‑to‑day HR administrative support.
• Maintain HR compliance in line with GDPR requirements.
• Support employee wellbeing initiatives, advise management, refer to the EAP and oversee absence, sickness and holiday tracking.
• Offer guidance on performance‑related matters and ensure accurate documentation.
• Work closely with the HR Manager to build strong relationships, act as a reliable point of contact and contribute to HR projects and strategic plans.
• Carry out any additional duties within the scope of the role.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an HR Advisor, preferably in construction, engineering or a similar sector.
• Ability to provide practical, solutions‑focused advice to managers and employees.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
• CIPD Level 5 qualification or equivalent.
