HR Consultant – Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI)

About the role

Positive Employment is recruiting an HR Consultant to support a local government organisation in Bristol. The role focuses on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) and offers a permanent, mostly remote contract with occasional office attendance.

Key responsibilities

• Provide workforce insights for Equality Impact Assessments on HR policy and employment matters.
• Support development and review of policies to embed fairness, accessibility and inclusion.
• Act as a key HR link for colleague networks, strengthening engagement and voice.
• Use feedback and data to identify EDI risks, gaps and improvement opportunities.
• Deliver expert HR advice on complex employee‑relations cases, ensuring legal compliance.
• Coach managers through formal processes such as disciplinary, grievance and performance management.
• Lead a caseload covering absence management, restructures, TUPE transfers, ACAS conciliation and tribunal cases.

Required profile

• Significant experience in local authority HR, with strong EDI knowledge.
• Solid background in policy development, casework and employment law.
• Ability to analyse data and present evidence‑based insights.
• Professional handling of sensitive discussions and a collaborative approach.
• Chartered Member of CIPD or demonstrable equivalent experience.
