HV Fitter – High Voltage Electrical Installation

About the role

We are seeking an experienced HV Fitter to join our construction team in the North West of England. You will work on high‑voltage electrical infrastructure projects up to 33kV, supporting both private and regulated networks. The role offers a permanent position with opportunities for career development in the power sector.

Key responsibilities

• Land, position and install transformers.
• Install cable containment systems and supporting infrastructure.
• Carry out auxiliary wiring and install associated equipment.
• Perform intrusive maintenance inspections, including VCB and OCB testing.
• Operate HV switchgear in line with company procedures and safety standards.
• Support construction and maintenance activities across a range of HV projects.
• Assist other departments and contribute to wider business operations as needed.
• Participate in the out‑of‑hours call‑out rota.

Required profile

• Industry‑recognised electrical qualifications or a completed apprenticeship.
• Proven experience with HV electrical distribution equipment and infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of electrical distribution networks and substation components.
• Good knowledge of switchgear manufacturers, types and applications.
• Familiarity with distribution network safety rules and authorisation processes.
• Self‑motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to travel and work away from home when required.
• Full UK driving licence.
