Information Governance Officer (Temporary)

About the role

We are recruiting an Information Governance Officer on behalf of our client in Bournemouth. The role supports the organisation in responding lawfully and securely to Subject Access Requests, Freedom of Information and Environmental Information requests within statutory timescales.

Key responsibilities

• Collate, locate and download information from multiple systems to answer FOI, Environmental and SAR requests.
• Review and redact large volumes of documentation in line with data protection legislation.
• Maintain clear audit trails, records and secure filing systems.
• Support the Information Governance accountability framework and investigate data breaches.
• Report high‑risk breaches to the Information Commissioner’s Office within required timescales.
• Provide advice, training and guidance to colleagues on lawful information release.
• Deputise for the Team Manager or Team Leader when required.

Required profile

• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy when handling large volumes of data.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing deadlines.
• High levels of discretion, confidentiality and a professional, resilient approach.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, including email, phone and video calls.
• Previous experience in Information Governance and knowledge of information‑rights legislation.

• Foxit or Adobe Acrobat for PDF redaction.
• Microsoft Excel for data handling and spreadsheet creation.
• Microsoft PowerPoint for basic presentations.
• Database interrogation tools to retrieve relevant records.
• Accurate data entry across spreadsheets and databases.
