Inquests Solicitor – Manchester – Up to £75k

About the role

The firm is seeking an Inquests Solicitor to join its specialist team in Manchester, working on nationally significant, sensitive and high-profile health and social care matters for NHS and other public sector clients.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of inquest and Court of Protection matters, primarily for NHS clients.
• Conduct advocacy at hearings, often without the need for counsel.
• Advise on health and social care issues, including mental health, mental capacity, safeguarding and deprivation of liberty.
• Support serious medical treatment cases, welfare disputes and Human Rights Act matters.
• Supervise and delegate work to junior team members where appropriate.
• Contribute to client training, seminars and business development initiatives.
• Work closely with clients, including opportunities for short-term secondments.

Required profile

• Qualified Solicitor with at least one year post‑qualification experience.
• Experience in inquests and/or Court of Protection work.
• Comfortable managing an independent caseload with appropriate supervision.
• Confident in advocacy and case management.
• Interest in health and social care law and public sector clients.
• Strong communicator with excellent drafting and analytical abilities.
• Organised and able to meet deadlines, priorities and billing targets.
