Interim Capital Project Officer

About the role

This interim position supports a South‑East England local authority in delivering its capital programme, with a strong focus on regeneration and commercial development. You will work across a portfolio of projects, ranging from retail and leisure schemes to broader town‑centre improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead capital projects from feasibility studies through to final delivery.
• Coordinate external consultants, contractors and delivery partners.
• Produce progress reports for senior leaders and elected members.
• Engage with members and stakeholders to ensure project alignment.
• Manage programme schedules, budgets and risk registers.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering capital projects, preferably within a public‑sector or regeneration context.
• Demonstrated ability to manage commercial projects and multi‑stakeholder environments.
• Valid driving licence and access to a vehicle.
• Residence within a commutable distance of Essex.
