Interim Financial Controller

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Interim Financial Controller to join a fast‑growing SME in Greater Manchester on a three‑month contract. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will lead a team of finance professionals, own the group’s financial reporting, cash‑flow management and treasury operations, and provide commercial insight to senior stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the monthly group management accounts process, delivering accurate and timely reports.
• Manage group cash flow, including weekly and 13‑week cash‑flow forecasts.
• Oversee treasury activities, cash management and working capital optimisation.
• Handle inter‑company reconciliations, group consolidations and multi‑entity reporting.
• Support statutory accounts preparation, external audit and tax compliance.
• Lead, mentor and develop a team of 6‑7 management and treasury accountants.
• Partner with senior stakeholders to provide variance analysis, financial insight and commercial support.
• Identify and implement improvements to financial processes and controls.

Required profile

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification.
• Proven experience as a Financial Controller or senior finance leader.
• Strong background in management accounting, treasury and cash‑flow forecasting.
• Experience with group consolidations, inter‑company accounting and multi‑entity reporting.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop finance teams.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Immediate availability.
