Interim HR Director (6‑9 months) – £150k‑£250k

About the role

We are seeking an Interim HR Director for an expanding software business in Knutsford. This 6‑9 month fixed‑term contract reports to the CEO and starts at the beginning of August, working 4 or 5 days per week on site.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain smooth operation of the HR function throughout the transition period.
• Embed and operationalise existing people processes to give the team confidence in HR delivery.
• Provide a calm, credible presence to mentor and steady the HR team.
• Prepare a clean hand‑over to the incoming permanent HR Director.

Required profile

• Proven experience running an efficient, end‑to‑end HR process machine at pace.
• Strong operational HR leadership, comfortable being hands‑on in a lean team.
• Credibility with a technical/engineering workforce and ability to earn trust.
• Comfortable in a founder‑led, values‑driven culture, acting as a steward of existing culture.
• Available to start early August and able to commute within one hour of Knutsford.
