IT Risk Advisor – Technical Security Architecture

About the role

We are looking for an IT Risk Advisor who specialises in technical security architecture ‘by design’. You will provide security oversight and architectural assurance across delivery projects and business‑as‑usual operations, ensuring secure design decisions, controlled change and proportionate risk treatment in cloud, on‑premises and hybrid environments.

Key responsibilities

• Define and maintain security architecture patterns, reference designs and secure configuration baselines for cloud and on‑prem environments.
• Drive secure‑by‑design awareness across engineering teams and contribute to the Architecture Review Board.
• Provide hands‑on security architecture advice to delivery teams, perform threat‑informed design reviews and ensure appropriate control selection.
• Participate in Change Advisory Boards, review and approve high‑risk firewall and configuration changes in Azure and on‑prem environments.
• Prioritise high‑risk and zero‑day vulnerabilities, work with technology and operations teams on remediation.
• Deliver pragmatic security recommendations to IT teams and infrastructure suppliers, aligned with operational and availability requirements.

Required profile

• Strong background in technical security architecture within complex enterprise environments.
• Experience with both Azure cloud and on‑premises infrastructure.
• Comfortable operating in governance forums while maintaining technical credibility.
• Ability to challenge design and change decisions constructively and translate technical risk into clear business impact.
