Junior Clinical Fellow – Paediatric Emergency Medicine

About the role

The Junior Clinical Fellow (Trust Doctor) will work in the Paediatric Emergency Department of a major trauma centre, providing front‑line emergency care to children. The post is a 6‑12 month fixed‑term appointment, available from September 2026 or February/March 2027, on a full‑time or part‑time basis.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver SHO‑level clinical care to paediatric patients across a full shift rota.
• Assess, diagnose and manage a wide range of emergency presentations, including major trauma.
• Participate in the department’s teaching and audit activities.
• Collaborate with consultants, registrars and multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe patient pathways.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and adhere to NHS governance standards.

Required profile

• Full registration with the GMC and a licence to practise.
• Early‑ to mid‑stage trainee (equivalent to ST1‑ST3) in Emergency Medicine or Paediatrics, or FY3 year between Foundation and Specialty training.
• Commitment to a 6‑12 month clinical fellowship in a high‑volume paediatric emergency setting.
• Ability to work flexibly across full‑time or part‑time contracts.
