Junior Transport Planner

About the role

This is a full‑time Junior Transport Planner position based in Wigan, supporting a fast‑growing product sourcing and retail supply company. The role is ideal for a recent graduate or an early‑career professional with some transport administration experience.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with daily route planning and vehicle scheduling.
• Support optimisation of routes to improve efficiency and lower operating costs.
• Control booking capacity for all sites while meeting lead‑time SLAs.
• Liaise with customer service, warehouse and operational teams to ensure smooth delivery execution.
• Ensure compliance with transport legislation, driver‑hours regulations and company policies.
• Produce daily vehicle utilisation reports for key stakeholders.
• Provide administrative support to the transport planning team.

Required profile

• At least 12 months of route or transport planning experience (desirable, training provided).
• Essential previous administrative experience.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Minimum of 5 GCSEs including English and Maths.
• Strong attention to detail, ability to work under pressure and prioritise workload.
• Good communication skills and a reliable, trustworthy team player.
• A degree is desirable but not mandatory.
