Lead Construction Planner – Carbon Capture Project

About the role
We are seeking an experienced Lead Construction Planner to join a major carbon capture project in Padeswood, North Wales. This senior position will own the integrated construction schedule, ensuring the complex industrial decarbonisation programme is delivered on time and to the required quality standards.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and manage the overall construction schedule for a large‑scale carbon capture project.
- Create and maintain detailed Level 3 and Level 4 schedules using Primavera P6.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, commissioning and construction teams to align milestones and deliverables.
- Design construction sequencing, work‑packaging strategies and execution plans.
- Monitor contractor performance, identify schedule risks and drive recovery actions.
- Conduct critical‑path analysis and provide proactive mitigation planning.
- Prepare weekly and monthly planning reports, progress updates and schedule performance metrics for senior stakeholders.
- Lead planning meetings, progress reviews and look‑ahead sessions with contractors and project teams.
- Support change management by assessing schedule impacts of variations and scope changes.
- Ensure compliance with project controls procedures, governance standards and reporting requirements.
- Mentor junior planners and planning engineers as needed.
Required profile
- Significant experience in a senior or lead planning role on major industrial, energy, infrastructure or EPC projects.
- Background in carbon capture, power generation, process plant, petrochemical, oil & gas or heavy industrial projects is highly desirable.
- Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6.
- Strong understanding of construction execution, sequencing and project controls principles.
- Proven ability to work in live construction environments and manage complex stakeholder interfaces.
- Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Controls or related discipline preferred.
- Professional accreditation such as APM, PMI or equivalent is advantageous.
- Willingness to work full‑time on site in Padeswood, North Wales.
