Lead Data Engineer – Python, SQL – Team Lead (Vice President)

About the role

JPMorgan Chase is looking for a Lead Data Engineer to join the Capital Markets team in London. You will be a core technical contributor, driving the design and delivery of secure, scalable, cloud‑native data solutions that support the firm’s business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a squad of Data Engineers, collaborating with Product and Design leads to deliver business outcomes.
• Facilitate Agile ceremonies such as stand‑ups, retrospectives and technical refinements.
• Accelerate team velocity and improve time‑to‑market for solutions.
• Provide regular updates to senior stakeholders on delivery progress.
• Apply domain‑modelling techniques to build best‑in‑class products.
• Structure software for readability, testability and evolution.
• Investigate and resolve issues promptly, ensuring they do not re‑appear.
• Own end‑to‑end, scalable, secure cloud‑native microservice applications.
• Ensure releases occur with zero downtime for end‑users.

Required profile

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts with at least 3 years of applied experience.
• Strong working knowledge of AWS, Databricks and Python.
• Experience across the full data lifecycle.
• Advanced SQL skills, including joins and aggregations.
• Working understanding of NoSQL databases.
• Significant experience in statistical data analysis and tool selection.
• Knowledge of modern software architecture patterns.
• Experience with CI/CD platforms such as CircleCI or Jenkins.
• Proficiency with version‑control systems like GitHub or Bitbucket.
• Desire to teach and coach team members on coding practices and design principles.
