Lead Freight Specialist

About the role

The Lead Freight Specialist supports the Global Freight Manager by overseeing outbound and inbound freight movements across the UK, Germany, France, APAC and the US. The role ensures timely delivery of stock and customer orders to distribution centres and third‑party logistics providers while monitoring freight forwarder performance.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily freight volumes and guarantee carrier capacity.
• Monitor performance and SLA metrics; act as the primary contact for freight issues.
• Maintain dashboards on spend, performance, operations and customer experience.
• Present monthly performance overviews and contribute to business review meetings.
• Maintain and improve global SOPs, driving standardised processes.
• Analyse processes to identify cost, service and CO₂ reduction opportunities.
• Collaborate with transport, supply‑chain optimisation, health & safety, ESG, distribution centres, carriers, brokers and 3PLs.
• Support freight‑related projects across the business.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience with air, sea or road transportation modes.
• Understanding of carrier invoicing and surcharge structures.
• Knowledge of customs clearance processes and Incoterms.
• Strong data‑analysis capability with large data sets.
• Excellent communication, attention to detail and ability to work independently or in a team.
