Lead Production Specialist - ITV Granada Reports

About the role

ITV Granada Reports is recruiting a permanent, full-time Lead Production Specialist in Salford. The role sits in the management team and involves inspiring colleagues to deliver a first-class service across live broadcast news, streaming and online content, and to provide live and recorded content to ITVX. The workplace is office-based and unsuitable for hybrid working, though ad hoc days from home may be possible.

Key responsibilities

• Operate as required and deputise for the Operations Manager
• Line manage and lead the Production Specialist and Camera team, covering technical, craft, operational, support and administrative skills
• Oversee skills training for Production Specialists and share responsibility for the Production Specialist rosters
• Devise and oversee operational schedules, and lead projects as needed
• Advocate for new technology and changes, and champion a culture of innovation in the live gallery and studio
• Maintain health and safety risk management and set SMART objectives with the team
• Hold performance conversations, give constructive feedback, recognise achievements and offer pastoral support

Required profile

• Experience in a live production environment
• Experience line managing or managing projects
• Good knowledge of the whole production process and ability to learn and apply new skills
• Proactive, resilient, confident communicator with excellent attention to detail
• Ability to work under pressure in a busy newsroom, including late shifts (around 23:00 finish) and early mornings (around 05:00 start), and weekend work when required
• Own transport to the workplace

Required skills

• A core skill in one or more of: editing, sound, directing, programme timing, vision, media ingest and transfer, rostering, production technology support
• Live studio and location operations (directing, vision mixing, sound, Autocue, newsroom cameras)
• Playout, scripts, scheduling, logging, clearance and returns
• ITVX/digital support, editing and templated graphics, server management and media storage
