Lead Solar Installer – Midlands (Travel Across England & Wales)

About the role

Proman UK is seeking a Lead Solar Installer to head installation crews on residential and commercial solar PV projects across the Midlands, England and Wales. You will coordinate daily activities, ensure quality and safety standards, and act as the technical point of contact for customers and suppliers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise installation teams on solar PV, battery storage and heat‑pump projects.
• Plan, organise and execute daily installation tasks, including mounting systems and electrical connections.
• Carry out commissioning, quality checks and on‑site technical troubleshooting.
• Ensure compliance with health‑and‑safety regulations and UK electrical standards.
• Liaise with project managers, suppliers and customers throughout project delivery.
• Provide guidance, mentorship and training to junior installers.

Required profile

• Level 3 NVQ in Electrical Installation or equivalent qualification.
• Current 18th Edition (BS7671) wiring regulations certification.
• Proven experience leading installation teams in solar PV or related renewable‑energy projects.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across England and Wales.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, roof layouts and installation specifications.
• Comfortable working at height and in varying weather conditions.

• Solar PV installation methods and system components
• Interpretation of technical drawings and specifications
• Safe use of power tools and hand tools
• Knowledge of UK electrical regulations and safe working practices
• Full UK driving licence
• Level 3 Solar PV qualification (City & Guilds 2922 or equivalent)
