Learning Mentor (Part‑time, Community Support)

About the role

Quantum Scholars is seeking a reliable Learning Mentor to work in‑person with three young men in Wokingham. This part‑time, community‑based position runs from September 2026 to the end of the 2026/27 academic year, offering 11 hours per week of supportive, hands‑on guidance.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate access to local community activities and opportunities.
• Provide one‑to‑one or small‑group academic support.
• Help build confidence, independence and positive daily routines.
• Encourage engagement with learning and personal development.
• Support communication, organisational and social skills.
• Collaborate with families, education professionals and relevant services.
• Maintain professional boundaries and record progress for sharing with appropriate professionals.
• Follow all safeguarding, health‑and‑safety and risk‑assessment procedures.

Required profile

• Experience supporting young people in education, mentoring, youth work or community settings.
• Calm, patient and consistent approach.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building abilities.
• Confidence working independently in community environments.
• Ability to deliver academic support in an accessible, encouraging manner.
• Clear understanding of safeguarding responsibilities.
• Willingness to complete an enhanced DBS check and provide satisfactory references.
• Right to work in the United Kingdom.
