Learning Support Assistant – Alternative Provision

About the role

The Learning Support Assistant will join the Alternative Provision team at Castlefield School, delivering tailored education and care for a small group of pupils with special educational and complex needs.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality support to a designated group of pupils under the direction of the Room Leader.
• Implement specialist strategies such as SALT and occupational therapy approaches.
• Prepare and adapt learning resources to meet individual pupil needs.
• Maintain a safe and inclusive classroom environment.
• Monitor pupil progress and contribute to personalised learning plans.
• Collaborate with teachers, specialists and families to ensure consistent support.

Required profile

• Good understanding of Special Educational Needs and effective support strategies.
• Passion for working with children who have complex needs.
• Committed, organised, enthusiastic and highly motivated.
• High standards of spoken and written English.
• Full, relevant Level 3 qualification (unqualified applicants will not be considered).

Required skills

• Knowledge of SEN strategies and interventions.
• Familiarity with SALT and occupational therapy techniques.
• Ability to create creative and enriching learning opportunities.
