About the role
The school is seeking a compassionate Learning Support Assistant to work with primary‑age pupils who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The role starts in September 2026 and initially runs until the October half‑term, with the possibility of extension for the right candidate.
Key responsibilities
- Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support to pupils with SEND, including autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, and moderate learning difficulties.
- Assist the class teacher and SENCO in adapting learning activities and resources to meet individual targets.
- Help pupils access the curriculum, build confidence and develop independence.
- Manage challenging behaviour with patience and resilience, following school policies.
- Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and communicate effectively with teachers, parents and external professionals.
Required profile
- Recent experience working with children in a UK primary school or a comparable educational setting.
- Demonstrated experience supporting pupils with SEND, such as autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language, or moderate learning difficulties.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, parents and other professionals.
- Willingness to obtain an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
