Learning Support Assistant – Somerset

About the role

We are seeking compassionate Learning Support Assistants to join primary schools across Somerset on a term‑time basis. You will work directly in classrooms, helping teachers manage behaviour and supporting pupils, including those with special educational needs.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day assistance in the classroom, supporting lesson delivery.
• Help manage pupil behaviour and maintain a positive learning environment.
• Engage with a range of children, offering both educational and pastoral support.
• Collaborate with teachers to adapt activities for pupils with SEN where required.

Required profile

• Empathy, patience and a trustworthy approach.
• Ability to stay calm, flexible and resilient in challenging situations.
• Genuine desire to support children’s academic and personal development.
• Previous experience as a Learning Support Assistant is desirable but not mandatory.
