Legal Collector

About the role

Credit Style, part of the Bristow & Sutor Group which employs over 500 people in debt recovery across the UK, is looking to strengthen its team in offices just north of Sheffield City Centre. This is a full-time permanent position of 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, based in the Sheffield offices (S3 postcode area). The role involves negotiating resolutions for overdue accounts and progressing some cases through to legal action.

Key responsibilities

• Negotiate commitments to resolve overdue accounts and monitor them to ensure timely resolution
• Manage a case management diary and take appropriate follow-up action
• Review pre-legal debts for suitability and readiness for legal proceedings
• Initiate county court legal actions for debt recovery and progress to judgment and enforcement through the in-house case management system, including court applications
• Work with courts, enforcement agencies and other suppliers to maintain high service standards
• Review and rectify cases that have failed the automated legal process
• Make and receive collection telephone calls professionally

Required profile

• Good IT skills, able to adapt to and use new systems
• Problem-solving skills and confidence in making and receiving telephone calls
• Willingness to learn and clear written and verbal communication
• Ability to work to targets and earn more based on success
• Integrity and good conduct as required by the SRA, and a strong, reliable work ethic
• Comfortable working both in a team and alone
