Senior Legal Counsel (EMEA Product & Distribution)

About the role

Invesco's EMEA Product & Distribution Legal Team in London is recruiting a Senior Legal Counsel. You will provide legal support across Invesco's products, services and distribution activities throughout EMEA, with a particular focus on the UK market, and advise on complex legal and regulatory matters while helping the business achieve its commercial objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and guide junior legal counsel, trainees and external legal resources
• Advise on a broad range of legal and regulatory matters relating to products, services and distribution
• Lead the review, drafting, negotiation and management of client and partner agreements, including investment management agreements and strategic partnerships
• Support and oversee legal matters for EMEA product initiatives and related business teams
• Monitor regulatory developments and advise stakeholders on their impact
• Assist with regulatory inquiries, corporate initiatives, policy development, process improvements and contracts
• Collaborate with legal colleagues worldwide

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer in a common law jurisdiction with the right to practice in the UK
• Significant post-qualification experience in-house in investment management or financial services, or in a leading law firm's financial services practice
• Proven experience negotiating complex agreements with large institutional counterparties
• Experience in an international organisation is advantageous; experience advising asset management businesses is highly desirable

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of MiFID investment services, regulated investment funds and the financial services and asset management industry
• Knowledge of legal documentation for investment management and distribution, and current EMEA regulatory developments
• Excellent written and verbal English; business-level German or Italian is an advantage
