Legal Secretary – Residential Property Conveyancing

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Legal Secretary to join our well‑established residential property team in Portsmouth. You will work closely with conveyancing fee earners, ensuring transactions progress smoothly from instruction to completion.

Key responsibilities

• Support conveyancing fee earners on residential property matters.
• Prepare contracts, legal documents and completion packs.
• Open, manage and close files, handling post‑completion tasks.
• Liaise with clients, estate agents, lenders and third parties.
• Conduct AML checks and manage onboarding processes.
• Prepare completion statements and assist with billing.
• Manage diaries, schedule appointments and track deadlines.
• Provide general administrative support to keep the team efficient.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Legal Secretary in conveyancing or private client work.
• Solid understanding of the conveyancing process.
• Strong typing and organisational abilities.
• Professional communication skills.
• Team‑oriented attitude and pride in delivering quality work.
