Litigation Solicitor

About the role

Royal Mail is seeking an experienced Litigation Solicitor to join its high‑performing legal team in Sheffield. This permanent, hybrid position offers the chance to move from private practice or an existing in‑house role into a dynamic environment handling a broad range of contentious matters.

Key responsibilities

• Provide practical legal advice on contract, IP, IT, ASA complaints, commercial torts, property disputes, complex customer complaints and regulatory issues.
• Manage litigation matters both pre‑action and issued claims, including small claims and larger disputes.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders and other legal specialists to deliver commercially focused guidance.
• Oversee outsourced legal work, ensuring quality, cost‑effectiveness and compliance.
• Support the small claims portfolio and liaise with external solicitors as needed.
• Develop training programmes, guides and internal knowledge resources.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor with at least three years post‑qualification experience in commercial litigation.
• Proven ability to handle both small and large disputes and to advise senior stakeholders on short notice.
• Strong commercial awareness, adaptability and excellent communication skills.
• Experience with Civil Procedure Rules; GDPR experience is desirable.
