Maintenance Operative – Mobile Care Home Support

About the role

You will join Cygnet’s Chaseways site as a mobile Maintenance Operative, providing day‑to‑day compliance, reactive repairs and planned maintenance across care homes for adults with learning disabilities in Herefordshire and Essex. The role is full‑time (40 hours) and involves travelling between sites to keep facilities safe and functional.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver a comprehensive maintenance and repair service, including basic joinery, plumbing, painting, decorating and general building work.
• Maintain plant, services and company vehicles in good working order.
• Carry out fire‑alarm point checks weekly, covering fire exits, door retaining devices and emergency lights.
• Report faulty equipment, potential hazards and ensure safe working practices are followed.
• Travel to multiple sites and be on‑call for emergency repairs outside normal hours when required.

Required profile

• Experience in indoor and outdoor painting and decorating.
• Willingness to travel across the region and hold a full, valid driving licence.
• Ability to record detailed maintenance information and communicate effectively at all levels.
• Friendly, conscientious team player with a positive attitude.
• Successful candidates will undergo an enhanced DBS check.
