Mechanical Fitter

About the role

The Mechanical Fitter will join a well‑established marine engineering business in Wirral, delivering fitting, maintenance and assembly work on a variety of marine craft. You will work on both small and large vessels, ensuring high‑quality mechanical components are built and repaired to deadline.

Key responsibilities

• Strip, overhaul and re‑assemble specialist equipment such as bearings, gearboxes, generators and pumps.
• Perform bench work following schematics and engineering drawings.
• Assemble, modify and repair mechanical components for new builds and repair projects.
• Collaborate with the design team to resolve mechanical problems.
• Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to health & safety standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience in mechanical fitting, maintenance and assembly within marine or similar environments.
• Ability to read and work from engineering drawings.
• Apprentice‑trained or NVQ Level 3 Mechanical Fitter (or equivalent).
• Successful completion of a DBS check.

What we offer

• Permanent contract with a salary up to £36,420 per year (£17.51 per hour).
• 40‑hour week (Mon‑Thu 08:00‑16:30, Fri 08:00‑15:00).
