Mechanical Project Manager - HVAC & R Systems

About the role

1st Step Solutions is supporting a leading UK mechanical engineering company in its London team, which is looking for a Mechanical Project Manager to join the Contracts team and report directly to the Contracts Director. The successful candidate will manage multiple projects from inception to completion across the UK, including the design and delivery of HVAC&R systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design HVAC&R systems independently and with the in-house design team
• Take full responsibility for the contractual and commercial aspects of assigned projects
• Prepare and submit quotations and respond to tenders and requests for information
• Liaise with manufacturers and clients to select and specify equipment and materials
• Analyse tender submissions before contract award and monitor project costs
• Act as a client-facing representative and define project scope, activities and programmes
• Maintain accurate project documentation in line with the ISO 9001 quality system
• Lead installation teams, including site visits, and keep regular contact with site personnel

Required profile

• Proven experience in HVAC&R project management and in HVAC&R system design
• Experience in the design and/or project management of ventilation, electrical, air conditioning, refrigeration or heating/plumbing
• Commercial awareness of project financials and knowledge of health and safety and environmental regulations
• Excellent communication, organisation and time management skills, able to work independently and in a team

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Excel and Word
• Use of mobile devices
