Merchant Accountant I

About the role

Join the fast‑paced Settlements team in Manchester and help maintain financial integrity across a high‑volume, global payments environment. You will work with multiple legal entities, handling payables and receivables in more than 80 currencies.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and post accurate journal entries and account postings.
• Investigate and resolve erroneous entries, rejected payments, and transaction issues.
• Perform detailed account reconciliations across high transaction volumes.
• Analyse financial data and statements to identify trends and discrepancies.
• Partner with operational teams to resolve client queries and improve processes.
• Contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives within finance operations.

Required profile

• Solid understanding of accounting procedures and reconciliation processes.
• Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs).
• Proven experience handling large‑scale reconciliations.
• Strong capability in managing and analysing high volumes of financial data.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• High numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
• Bachelor’s degree in a numerical subject such as Finance, Accounting or Mathematics.

Required skills

• Microsoft Excel (advanced functions, Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP).
• Oracle or similar financial systems.
• Snowflake for data warehousing.
• Tableau for data visualisation.
