Mobile HIU Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Mobile HIU Engineer to join a leading UK energy infrastructure provider. Based in London and covering Stratford, Battersea and Wandsworth, you will deliver planned and reactive maintenance for heat interface units (HIUs) serving residential customers.

Key responsibilities

• Perform HIU/CIU inspections and reactive maintenance to restore heat or cooling within contractual timeframes.
• Repair and replace pumps, valves, actuators and bleed systems as identified during service visits.
• Update work orders promptly using the company’s asset management system.
• Coordinate with the service desk to re‑book and close on‑hold jobs.
• Manage van stock and request critical parts from management.
• Conduct heat‑meter tasks such as battery replacement, meter swaps and error‑code investigations.
• Report PPMs and reactive jobs bi‑weekly and follow escalation procedures for issues beyond the HIU scope.
• Mentor a trainee HIU technician where required.

Required profile

• Full UK driving licence.
• Proven experience in the plumbing or HVAC sector, preferably with residential heat‑interface systems.
• Ability to work safely and adhere to health‑and‑safety policies.
• Strong customer focus and ability to prioritize tasks under pressure.

Required skills

• HIU/CIU inspection.
• Pump, valve and actuator replacement.
• System bleeding and pressure testing.
• Heat‑meter maintenance (battery change, meter replacement, error diagnostics).
• Use of an asset management system for work‑order updates.
