Mobile Vehicle Technician – Chelmsford

About the role

Join the RAC’s Service, Maintenance & Repair (SMR) division as a Mobile Vehicle Technician based in Chelmsford. You will work on a planned schedule of appointments, travelling to members’ homes or workplaces to perform full‑service repairs without emergency call‑outs.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out routine servicing and vehicle safety checks in line with RAC standards.
• Perform diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment.
• Complete in‑depth repairs normally done in a workshop.
• Provide members with advice and recommendations based on inspections.
• Manage parts ordering and documentation through RAC’s mobile service platform.

Required profile

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with at least 2 years’ experience, or 5 years’ experience as a vehicle technician/mechanic.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 penalty points.
