Modelling and Simulation Placement – 12.5‑month Internship

About the role

Join Airbus’s Virtual Product Engineering team in Filton to work on modelling and simulation for future aircraft. This 12.5‑month placement will give you hands‑on experience in multidisciplinary design, optimisation and emerging technologies such as AI and quantum computing.

Key responsibilities

• Develop new approaches to rapidly explore design options for future aircraft products.
• Apply aerodynamics, structures and systems simulation methods and fuse data for multidisciplinary analysis and optimisation.
• Investigate AI, machine‑learning, agent‑based modelling and quantum‑computing techniques to accelerate design‑space exploration.
• Support the demonstration of these approaches on real aircraft and air‑transport system problems.

Required profile

• Undergraduate studying Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or a related discipline and will remain enrolled for the full placement.
• Strong interest in aerospace and related engineering fields.
• Experience in computer programming with a willingness to use Python and its scientific libraries.
• Ability to produce clear technical reports and work both independently and as part of a team.
• Fluent English and able to obtain BPSS security clearance.
