Multi Skilled Engineer – Manufacturing & Maintenance

About the role

We are looking for a Multi Skilled Engineer to join the Engineering team at our Kara Foodservice site in Manchester. The role is fast‑paced, operating on a rotating 4‑on‑4‑off 12‑hour shift pattern, and involves both electrical and mechanical maintenance in a high‑volume bakery environment.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of plant breakdowns, diagnose faults quickly and implement corrective actions.
• Enter and manage work orders in the CMMS, producing detailed reports.
• Carry out planned preventive maintenance to strict schedules while seeking reliability improvements.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Food Safety and Hygiene standards at all times.
• Participate in continuous improvement projects and support site efficiency targets.

Required profile

• Apprentice‑level experience or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in engineering.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to mentor engineers and production operators.
• Proven track record of fault finding in a manufacturing setting.
• Willingness to contribute to project development and site engineering evolution.

Required skills

• Electrical engineering knowledge (including 17th edition certification).
• Mechanical engineering competence.
• PLC programming capability.
• Experience using a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• CompEx training (beneficial).
• General PC skills.
