Multi‑Skilled Engineer – Maintenance

About the role

As a Multi‑Skilled Engineer at Butternut Box you will be responsible for the efficient upkeep of all production, fulfilment and site‑services equipment across two sites – Rudie’s Kitchen (manufacturing) and Ace’s Pantry (UK warehouse). The role operates on a rotating shift pattern, ensuring the plant runs safely and continuously.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with production and fulfilment teams to maintain equipment availability and support scaling.
• Provide shift leadership, diagnose and resolve plant and site‑services issues as the first point of contact.
• Own machinery reliability, conduct root‑cause analysis of breakdowns and efficiency losses.
• Drive continuous‑improvement initiatives in collaboration with the days‑based engineering team.
• Participate in short‑interval control meetings, coach operators, write SOPs and deliver technical training.
• Ensure thorough handovers between shifts to maintain seamless operations.
• Maintain site services including cooling, steam, air, water, gas and electricity, as well as core asset bases such as mixing, filling, cooking, freezing and fulfilment equipment.

Required profile

• Strong multi‑skilled engineering background with a recognised apprenticeship.
• Electrical bias with solid experience in electrical diagnostics.
• Proven ability to fault‑find and problem‑solve across a wide range of industrial equipment.
