Neighbourhood Officer – 9 month maternity cover

About the role

The Neighbourhood Officer will manage a defined housing patch in St Helens for a 9‑month maternity cover contract. Acting as the primary contact for residents, you will deliver tenancy and estate management services while supporting safe, attractive communities.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of properties, providing tenancy and estate management.
• Advise tenants and stakeholders on housing matters and conduct tenancy activities such as inspections, viewings, and audits.
• Handle abandoned properties, unauthorised occupation, tenancy fraud investigations, and access issues.
• Attend evictions and follow related procedures.
• Analyse neighbourhood data to identify risks and allocate resources.
• Ensure compliance with housing legislation, regulatory requirements, and insurance obligations.
• Manage anti‑social behaviour, nuisance, and tenancy breach cases, taking enforcement action when needed.
• Support tenancy sustainment initiatives and promote independent living.
• Collaborate with internal departments and external agencies to resolve complex cases.
• Contribute to neighbourhood improvements and resident engagement activities.

Required profile

• Experience in housing management, neighbourhood services or a customer‑facing housing environment.
• Proven ability to manage anti‑social behaviour and nuisance cases.
• Strong understanding of housing legislation and tenancy management practices.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and conflict‑resolution skills.
