Operational Trainer – Healthcare Staff Development

About the role

Barchester Healthcare is seeking an Operational Trainer to deliver induction and ongoing development training to staff across approximately six care homes and independent hospitals within a defined region. This home‑based position involves travelling to sites, ensuring new and existing employees are confident, competent and aligned with Barchester’s person‑centred ethos.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver induction and development training in line with Barchester objectives and training metrics.
• Provide practical, hands‑on training across a variety of care‑related subjects.
• Plan, publish and manage training calendars for multiple sites.
• Maintain up‑to‑date employee training records and ensure compliance with legislative requirements.
• Arrange induction paperwork and allocate a buddy for new starters.
• Coach and support new team members, maintaining regular contact throughout their early weeks.
• Attend external meetings and conferences as required.
• Promote internal learning and development opportunities.
• Collaborate with Home Managers to implement individual personal development plans.

Required profile

• Relevant health & safety qualification (C&G 7300 or equivalent).
• Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care or comparable experience in the social care sector.
• Working knowledge of care‑sector legislative requirements.
• Minimum of two years’ experience delivering training.
• Full UK driving licence.
