Operations & Maintenance Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an Operations & Maintenance Engineer to join Telent’s field team delivering maintenance and commissioning on Highways England contracts. You will work across motorways such as the M25, M2, M3, M27, M20 and M23, ensuring the telecommunications infrastructure stays operational 24/7.

Key responsibilities

• Attend and repair copper and fibre cable breaks to keep the network running.
• Commission equipment to the required standards, delivering on time and within budget.
• Respond to equipment issues in transmission buildings and roadside cabinets, day or night.
• Perform general maintenance, testing and commissioning of fibre and copper systems.
• Complete all required documentation for each task promptly.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a similar field role, preferably on motorway communications.
• Familiarity with fault finding and testing in fibre or copper environments.
• Strong health and safety awareness.
• Willingness to work overtime or be on call when required.
• Full UK driving licence.

Required skills

• Knowledge of telecommunication networks.
• Copper jointing and testing.
• Fibre splicing and testing.
• Equipment commissioning.
